Anantara Siam injects 1,600 billion baht across the board to boost "Thai Luxury" and capture a share of the new era of tourism.

Anantara Siam Bangkok is investing 1.6 billion baht to upgrade its luxury hotel in the heart of the city to cater to the upscale travel trend. The upgrade includes 335 guest rooms, a new restaurant, MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions) facilities, and a spa. The hotel will reinterpret four decades of Thai cultural heritage to create a unique selling point. Anantara Siam Bangkok is confident in its ability to attract global travelers, following its ranking as the 8th most charming city in the world in 2026.

September 12, 2569 — Mr. Torsten Richter, General Manager of Anantara Siam Bangkok, revealed that the hotel has invested over 1,600 billion baht (approximately US$50 million) to transform its services and infrastructure. This marks a significant step in opening a new chapter to cater to the behavior and needs of the luxury segment, which values high standards of quality and unique experiences.
This major investment reflects confidence in Bangkok's long-term potential as a key destination for global tourists, encompassing culture, food, art, lifestyle, and services, which can generate immense value for the upscale tourism industry. This aligns with the Global Tourism City Attractiveness Index 2026, which ranked Bangkok 8th out of 200 tourist cities worldwide.
Torsten commented on the changing consumer behavior, stating, “We are seeing a clear shift in the expectations of high-end travelers. High quality and standards remain fundamental, while unique, meaningful experiences that connect with the destination's culture are becoming increasingly important. Competition today isn't measured solely by the number of visitors, but by the ability to create memorable experiences.”

Building upon a four-decade legacy, iconic architecture is being revamped.
The main challenge in this major renovation was to reinterpret the artistic and cultural heritage and unique identity that has been with the hotel for over 40 years since its opening in 2526, designed by world-renowned architect George Wimberley, under the concept of "Transformed. Timeless. Thai."
The 100-meter-long mural in the lobby, a work of art by Professor Paiboon Suwannakoot, and the 19-panel ceiling depicting scenes of Thai heavenly realms, have been meticulously preserved and maintained to maintain their original value. This is coupled with the presentation of "Thai Luxury" through the integration of design, cuisine, wellness, and Thai hospitality.
“What we are doing is building upon the values and spirit accumulated over four decades through a contemporary perspective, preserving the unique identity of Anantara Siam Bangkok so that it remains meaningful and relatable to travelers of all generations,” Mr. Torsten emphasized.
Upgrading 335 guest rooms to the Super Suite - Jim Thompson style, targeting high-end customers.
The 335 guest rooms and suites, ranging from Deluxe rooms to Siam Suites, Anantara Suites, and Presidential Suites, have been redesigned with a focus on teak wood, silk, and Thai craftsmanship blended with contemporary style. The bathrooms have also been completely revamped with marble, modern lighting, and state-of-the-art fixtures.
Key highlights of the room renovations include the launch of the “Anantara Garden Pool Suite,” featuring a private pool amidst lush greenery in the heart of the city, and the “Jim Thompson Suite,” a two-bedroom suite designed in collaboration with the Jim Thompson brand, showcasing teak wood, silk, and artwork reflecting the unique identity of the King of Thai Silk, creating a premium vacation experience.
Nine restaurants are revamping their offerings, upgrading MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions) facilities, and expanding their fitness offerings to target the wellbeing market.
Beyond guest rooms, the hotel has enhanced its culinary and lifestyle offerings through nine restaurants and bars: Spice Market, Biscotti, Shintaro, Madison Steak Avenue, Guilty Bangkok, and Aqua Bar (ranked among Asia's 50 Best Bars), as well as Mocha & Muffins, The Lobby, and The Garden Terrace, catering to dining needs throughout the day.
Meanwhile, a major upgrade was undertaken to the MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions) facilities, particularly the Grand Ballroom and smaller meeting rooms, by installing modern technology to accommodate international conferences, corporate events, and gala dinners.
In the dimension of health and wellbeing, Anantara Spa has been upgraded, and Siam Sport Club has been launched, a new fitness center equipped with Technogym equipment, a Pilates studio, and areas for Muay Thai, rock climbing, and fitness training, expanding the scope of services from just relaxation to comprehensive health and wellness.
