Donald Trump declared his full support for the development of AI and data centers, and even called Jensen Huang, CEO of Nvidia, during a conference. He emphasized that data centers will be the "oil" of the United States in the next 20-25 years, and declared that "opposition to AI" is "a hoax."

On September 15, 2569, CNBC reported that after President Donald Trump used his social media platforms to attack Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei for allegedly slowing the development of the AI industry, Trump took his stance to another level on Monday by making a direct call to Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang while he was speaking at the All-in Summit in Los Angeles, with the call played loudly for attendees to hear.

“I’m telling you, this is all a hoax,” Trump said, according to a video released by an attendee on social media, adding, “Data centers are great things, and they make people rich, and they make states rich.”

Trump has become involved in the heated debate surrounding artificial intelligence (AI), particularly the question of whether major AI development companies like Anthropic and OpenAI are accelerating the development of the technology to the point of posing a threat to humanity. This follows a statement over the weekend by Amodei, CEO of Anthropic, calling for a slowdown in AI model development, which was supported by Sam Altman, CEO of OpenAI, and Elon Musk of SpaceX.

Meanwhile, opposition to data center construction has been brought up alongside concerns about AI, as people increasingly worry that the technology could replace their jobs.

Previously, Trump posted several messages on Truth Social, in one of which stated that those who are concerned about AI and data centers are “revolutionaries for evil and wicked goals.”

In another post, Trump stated that he saw no need for additional regulations for AI, calling recent concerns about AI "hoaxes" and "deception."

Trump also stated that the calls to slow down data center construction were happening simply because the U.S. was leading other countries in the speed of construction.

In a line that Huang opened for Trump to speak through a loudspeaker on Monday, the U.S. president also said that data centers are "the oil of the next 20 or 25 years."

Trump also joked about Huang, the CEO of the world's most valuable company, saying, "He can develop the most sophisticated computer chips that no one can replicate, but he can't figure out how to put me on the line through a speaker."

Trump also expressed support for the construction of AI data centers that would install Nvidia graphics processing units (GPUs). Although Huang and Trump had appeared together in public several times during Trump's second term, this phone conversation further reflected their increasingly strong relationship, as well as the crucial role of AI in the U.S. economy, amid calls from some policymakers for increased regulation.

"I'm fully on your side," Trump told Huang.

Trump also said that those opposing the data center construction were "playing into the hands of a lot of people who don't want to see it happen," adding that the opposition might be coming from China.

"We won't let that happen," Trump said.

Huang responded, "You're right. We won't let that happen, sir."

Chamath Palihapitiya, one of the co-hosts of the All-in Summit, posted on X after the event, commenting on one of the videos of the incident: "This is surreal."

While a representative from Nvidia did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
