The Nvidia CEO agrees with Trump after the US leader dismissed fears of AI as hoaxes and opposed slowing down the technology's development. Meanwhile, Nvidia shares fell 3.4% amid concerns about a slowdown in AI investment.
On September 15, 2026, at 4:27 AM, Bloomberg News reported that Jensen Huang, CEO of Nvidia, expressed support for President Donald Trump's downplaying of concerns about the dangers of artificial intelligence (AI), amid calls from industry professionals to slow the development of advanced AI. Meanwhile, Nvidia shares fell 3.4% on concerns that spending on AI might slow.
During a panel discussion at the All-In Summit in Los Angeles on Monday, Jensen Huang took a live phone call from Trump on stage. The U.S. president stated that concerns about the dangers of AI were "hoaxes" and criticized calls to slow the development of the technology, suggesting they might be politically motivated or benefit China.
Trump stated that resistance to AI development is playing into the hands of groups who don't want to see the technology advance, which could be political groups or China. Huang agreed with Trump, noting that the president sees the crucial point amidst the complexity of the issue.
However, while Huang downplayed concerns about AI risks, he praised Jacob Coxon, a former Anthropic researcher who left the company due to AI security concerns, stating that Coxon showed courage in speaking out and that organizations should value the voices of whistleblowers within the organization.
Jensen Huang argues that the panic surrounding AI is creating the wrong choice, forcing society to choose between rapid innovation and AI security, when both can proceed simultaneously.
The risks that AI may pose to humanity have been intensely debated in recent days, following Coxon's resignation and accusations that Anthropic and OpenAI are gambling our lives on in the AI development race, while calls to slow down the pace of technological development continue to grow.
On Saturday, Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei published a 3,800-word article proposing to slow down the development of advanced AI models, a call that has since been supported by OpenAI CEO Sam Altman and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk.
Concerns that investment in AI may slow down caused U.S. technology stocks to fall on Monday, with Nvidia, the world's largest company by market capitalization, dropping about 3.4%.
Nvidia is considered one of the companies that has benefited the most from massive investments in AI infrastructure, as its chips are widely used to process AI models. Meanwhile, Trump is a strong supporter of data center construction, despite facing increasing opposition in many areas.
Trump also criticized US states for not approving permits for data center construction , arguing that such infrastructure could create wealth for both citizens and states. He compared AI and data centers to the "oil of the next 20-25 years" and said they were even more important than the internet.
